Slovak Green Building Council has new member
This September we joined the Slovak Green Building Council (SKGB). In so doing, we join dozens of likeminded members united by a common vision of sustainable construction in Slovakia. Like all segments of the economy, the construction industry contributes to CO2 emissions. Only through joint efforts can we reduce our carbon footprint, and meet the EU's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 - our new internal working group will focus on the use of green technologies in our projects.
Green solutions and abundant flora have gone hand-in-hand with our largest project - Slnečnice in Bratislava's Petržalka - from the outset: "A project priority was to address a green energy source for heating. The buildings have solar collectors to meet most hot water demand. In winter, we rely on high-quality condense boilers that I also consider a green solution,” said in an interview our construction director Ladislav Hoffmann.
Slnečnice emphasised plentiful local greenery - the project was envisioned so that the flora and buildings create a coherent concept. “Just halfway through building process, we had already planted almost 1,000 trees. And there are more to come as the project grows.”
We received the SKGB member’s plaque at the 10th annual Green Building Week conference in Bratislava.
